QueerTech is pleased to announce their Toronto Launch, and PrideHacks 2022 - Toronto Cocktail Social and Networking event, as well as our first ever Toronto-based hackathon, PrideHacks 2022 - Toronto! QueerTech strives to queer the tech ecosystem by breaking down barriers, creating spaces, and connecting communities to support and empower LGBTQ2S+ people to thrive. |
The QueerTech Toronto Launch & PrideHacks Cocktail Event is a networking event for the QueerTech community to celebrate the official launch of QueerTech in Toronto. It's an opportunity to meet with our beloved community, as well as QueerTech partners and sponsors. PrideHacks is QueerTech's annual hackathon bringing together people from Canada's tech ecosystem to design, build, and implement technology solutions for nonprofit organizations that serve the 2SLGBTQ+ community. |

Both the cocktail event and hackathon will be held at our host Wealthsimple's office, which is located at King and Spadina. The exact address is 80 Spadina Road, Fourth floor, Toronto, ON. |
Cocktail event: Thursday June 16th, 2022 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Hackathon: Friday, June 17th, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 10 PM and Saturday June 18th from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. |
Additional FAQs
Do I need to be registered to attend the event?
Yes, you MUST register via this link to Eventbrite and have your Eventbrite confirmation to be admitted to either event.
Do I need to fill out the health screen to attend the event?
Yes, you MUST fill out the health screen questionnaire and receive a green check mark in order to attend either the cocktail event or the hackathon. If you intend to participate in both events, you may be asked to complete the health screen more than once.
When I arrive, what do I do?
Here's what to expect upon arrival:
- Volunteers will greet you and ask for your Eventbrite QR code.
- Take the elevator to the fourth floor, and present your green check mark from the Eden system.
- Fill out a name tag.
- Enjoy the event!

5:00 PM - PrideHacks Day 1 of hacking begins with an opening mingle and some food
6:00 PM - Presentation of Problem Statements by nonprofit partners and their project leads
6:30 PM - Final team assembly begins
7:00 PM - Get to hacking!
9:30 PM - Wrap up notice
10:00 PM - End of Day 1 hacking
Saturday, June 18th, 2022
8:00 AM - Attendee arrival and breakfast served
9:00 AM - Return to teams, check in with project leads, and hacking day 2 begins
10:00 AM - Team check in #1
12:00 PM - Team check in #2 and lunch is served notice
2:00 PM - Team check in #3 and afternoon snack served notice
3:30 PM - Wrap up notice
4:00 PM - Teams assemble in the main area
4:15 PM - Solution presentations begin
5:15 PM - Thank yous and closing remarks

- Please make sure to document all changes, upgrades, customizations, etc. throughout the project so that the organizations can access this information during and after PrideHacks.
Additional Information
After the opening event on Thursday, the PrideHacks organizers will be soft-assigning all of our awesome participants into their project teams. At the event on Friday, each team will find a space at Wealthsimple to introduce yourselves, meet your project leads and nonprofit organizations, as well as come up with a strategy for working together.
You’ll be working closely with your project lead and the nonprofit throughout Friday and Saturday, so please stay near your room or at least keep your Discord open to check for updates. Also please note and keep track of all major changes, upgrades, customizations, etc., that you make throughout to provide to the nonprofit so that they can maintain all the great work done during PrideHacks.
The official deadline for submissions is Saturday at 4pm.
Please note that we will be gathering promotional materials in the form of photos, screengrabs, videos, etc. throughout the hackathon, so please let one of the PrideHacks organizers know if you do not want to be photographed, or otherwise recorded.

PrideHacks is an inclusive and harassment free event. We ask that you be kind, present, and respectful with everyone in attendance. So, feel good and have fun! PrideHacks is an open event where only kind and inclusive vibes will be allowed.
